Wordle Solver

Four rows down, two greens, a yellow you can't place, and your brain has gone blank. A Wordle solver is a tool that takes your guesses and their colors and lists every valid word that still fits, so you can see your options at a glance.

Below, you'll enter your guesses, tap the tiles to match your game and get the likeliest answers plus a smart next guess. You'll also learn how the solver ranks words, what each result means and when using one makes sense.

How do you enter your guesses?

Type each guess into its own row, then tap every tile until it matches the color Wordle gave it: gray, yellow or green. Leave the unused rows empty, and press Find words when you're ready to see which words still fit.

Tap a tile to cycle it: gray, then yellow, then green. Leave unused rows empty.

How does the Wordle solver work?

The Wordle solver checks all 14,855 valid guesses against your tiles, using the game's own double-letter rules, and keeps only the words that would give you exactly those colors. Then it ranks them, likeliest answers first, using the letter patterns of past answers.

Let's look at the steps, from your first guess to your next move:

  1. Type your first guess into row 1.
  2. Tap each tile until it matches your game: gray, yellow or green.
  3. Add any other guesses in the rows below.
  4. Press Find words and pick your next guess from the list.

What do the solver's results mean?

You get two things: a list of possible answers and three suggested next guesses. They do different jobs. Early on, the suggestions narrow the field fastest, and once only a few words fit, the answer list is where you pick your winner.

ResultWhat it isWhen to use it
Possible answersEvery valid word that fits all your tiles, likeliest firstWhen only a handful are left, or you're on your last guesses
Best next guessesWords that test the most useful untried lettersEarly on, when lots of words still fit
Used words (dashed)Words that have already been a Wordle answerAs a last resort: repeats are possible but rare

Pro Tip

With more than three words left and guesses to spare, don't gamble on one of them. Play a suggested next guess first, because five fresh letters rule out far more words than a wrong stab at the answer ever will.

Is using a Wordle solver cheating?

That's up to you, since Wordle is a game you play against yourself. In our view, a Wordle solver is most useful after you've had a proper go, or as a way to learn which guesses work, because watching the list shrink teaches you fast.

Here's when we'd reach for it:

  • On your fifth guess, when one wrong word costs you the streak.
  • After you finish, to see which guess would have narrowed things down faster.
  • When you're learning, to watch how each color shrinks the list of possible words.

Want to build that skill? Start with a stronger first guess, then read our solving strategy guide. If you only need words with certain letters, filter by letter in the word finder instead. New to the game? Here's what the tile colors mean.

Wordle solver FAQs

How does the Wordle solver work?

By checking all 14,855 valid Wordle guesses against your tiles with the game's own double-letter rules. Only the words that would give you exactly those colors survive, and the likeliest answers are listed first.

Which words does the solver know?

Every word Wordle accepts as a guess, from the open-source Wordle word list. Real answers tend to be everyday words, so the solver ranks words shaped like past answers first and pushes rare ones down.

Why are certain words marked as used?

They've already been a Wordle answer. Repeats are possible since February 2026, but only 27 of 1,943 answers have come back, so used words stay in the list but rank lower.

Why does it suggest a guess that can't be the answer?

Because a guess full of untested letters rules out more words than a lucky shot at the answer. Once only one or two words are left, the solver switches to suggesting those words instead.

Does the solver work in hard mode?

Yes. Every word in the possible answers list uses all your green and yellow clues, so each one is a legal hard mode guess. The suggested next guesses only follow hard mode rules when they also appear in that list.

Does the solver save my guesses?

No. The Wordle solver runs entirely in your browser, so your guesses never leave your device and nothing is stored once you close the page. You won't need a signup, account or download either.
